On the opening day of Shanghai's Expo in 2010, I witnessed something unforgettable. Coming from a country ( Iceland ) with a population of only 350,000. Then, living in a city with over 23 million people was a remarkable experience. The expo attracted 73 million visitors in total and holds the record for the most visitors in one day, with 1.03 million visitors. I can vividly recall visiting the World Expo in Vancouver, BC, Canada in 1987, where 380,000 people attended. To me, it was like every Icelander, and more were in the same place. This photo captures the opening day of the Bund in Shanghai, with people from the countryside coming to see the new Bund and the world expo. Everywhere I looked, there was a sea of faces passing by like a wave. It's still one of my favorite memories from living in Shanghai.
